I think it was one of lotus' attempts at making a more popular, 4 seat vehicle to sell to a larger audience. 

In retrospect it looks like the answer to a question nobody asked.

Dude those are rare cars with pretty hot performance for the time, and they look to be in goodish condition.

I still don't want them. And that's saying something.

I find that I do want them. 

It's better to have an Elan's ugly sister than no Lotus at all.

It'd be awesome to have a plurality of Lotii at the challenge!

Little fact about these.  When new they had a higher MSRP than the Ferraris.

It's not exactly where I'd expect to find cars like that, which might be one of the reasons for them not selling.

I've always liked the quirky Elite and Eclat but they got it right with the Excel.
