There was a Scout dealership in my town when I was a little kid. I rode by it every day when I was on the school bus.

I definitely remember the Terra as being a real thing. Maybe it was a long wheelbase Scout II with the short hardtop and the pickup bulkhead?

Exactly this.

There were two LWB Scout IIs (118" WB)
The Traveller (Full roof SUV)
And the Terra (Pickup truck version)

Being an '80, this should have the incredibly rare Dana 300 transfercase, which was a one year only offering, and in demand for those looking to swap out their Dana 20 to get a better low range.  '80 also was the year that the front D44 had an improved caster angle.
