I think a d16y8? (whatever the late 90's EX civic motor was) would be a barrel of fun...and should bolt in.
I would think there would be a ton of parts commonality with the Civic of a similar year.
~1720 pounds vs. ~2300 for an EF Si hatch. That thing could be a ton of fun.
The fact that it's already D-series, LSD and very light means a very cheap and easy 'better D-series' swap should be all this thing needs in my book. Looks awesome!
