Pricey I think - but what do I know? NMNA.

I have more concerns than money.

Is that cage legal?

There should be a diagonal in the same plane as the main hoop.  I don't see one...

Those forward down tubes say "its easier to bend these than pull the dash" :)

That's not a Spec Miata...  maybe he means it could be made into one?

That's also the strangest Miata rollcage I've ever seen.

In the current market, $8000 is way under market for a 33k mile car with a hardtop.  Not enough pics or details to tell if it's a good deal or not.

I haven't checked the specifics on cage design in a couple years in the GCR but the diagonal between the rear supports used to fit the rules. The question will be if you can convince the inspector that it goes far enough to the drivers side to count as one.

Bolt in cage?

In reply to 914Driver :

That was my first thought, but you can't see the mounting points in any of the pics.  The extra diagonal rear stay also looks like it's going through the gas tank, but that may just be the photos.

There is no diagonal bar in the main hoop... just a Petty bar, and that looks bolt in.  I'm pretty sure that would not pass tech for NASA or SCCA for W2W.  IIRC they both require a diagonal brace in the same plane as the main hoop.

The cage looks like it was designed to work with the soft top... very strange...

11.2.Main Hoop Bracing

a.Main hoops shall incorporate a diagonal brace. The brace shall either be in the plane of the main hoop, or extend from the top of one rear brace (described in 9.4.B.2.c) to the bottom of the opposite rear brace. Automobiles with mid mounted engines can have the lower mounting point attach to the frame of the automobile within six inches of the main hoop. In the case of braces in the plane of the main hoop, the brace must span at least 50% of the width of the main hoop, and at least 75% of the height of the main hoop as shown in figure 12

The diagonal doesn't need to be in the plane of the main hoop.  The problem with what could be the diagonal to the rear is that this one doesn't start at the top of one of the rear supports.  It matches up with the bolt in Petty bar but it won't pass as a main hoop diagonal.
