Look's like an old USPS OPS truck. Worked on a few that looked a lot like that or were painted to look like phone company vans.

As a child who grew up with a father who had a windowless van, I'm still a fan of them nowdays despite the stigma and stereotypes they now draw.

Not sure the folding chair from Target and 10 year old DVD player qualify as "Spy gear", but the periscope is cool.

Step-1: Install 4x4 junkyard conversion, snorkel, and exhaust stack.

Step-2: Make entire van/cab waterproof.

Step-3: Have the first GRM submarine!

With as cheap as cameras and flat panel monitors are now, a periscope is a relic worth only the nostalgia / gee-whiz factor.. but still, that's a heck of a novelty.

Is the roll of toilet paper considered spy gear?

You could take that out to Silicon Valley and sell it as a furnished parking lot apartment and make some serious profit

'Retiring from PI work' or 'court ordereding me to sell after number of restraining orders against me hit double digits'?

It beats ducking down in the P71 as cars come around the corner... No. I'm not kidding.

That's right. I'm saying it. The P71: One of the worst surveillance vehicles ever.

My thoughts exactly. This looks like the kind of thing someone would build to stalk their estranged ex-wife.

The surveillance van I have access to is simply a van with some misleading information on the side. This van is simply amazing, stalker or not. Anyway, most surveillance has more to do with GPS and fancy E36 M3.

This van is so sweet. Only problem is that if it gets posted all over car forums and blogs, it's cover will be blown!

Oh well, time to make a Custom Surveillance Van. Someone find that airbrush guy that did that ugly Vette in that other thread and paint some viking ladies on this thing! If the van's a rockin', then you can do surveillance stuff without anyone bothering you.
