That's too many cylinders for a 318. There's something interesting going on.
That's cheap. The seats alone are worth 1/2 the price and the engine/tranny if S52/zf worth more than the whole thing.

Its difficult to know for sure. That plastic cover can be changed as can the cams.
That's a steal, particularly if it's got the S52. I get that the entire oil filter assembly can be swapped but this looks to have the correct oil filter wit the metal cover for the S52.
The quarter panel and A-pillar damage are unfortunate.
Super zoom shows the CA plates expired in 2022. Since it is engine swapped the car won't pass CA smog test and that's why he's not coming back for it.
The sales is likely legit. The part about no AC will keep it from selling to anyone within 4 hours of Las Vegas. But, towed back to the Midwest would be great.
Because my craigslisting knows no geographical bounds I messaged the seller a couple days back asking for the vin - no reply. Not sure if my message wasn't friendly enough or there's a reason to keep that number close to the vest. I guess I could pull it by the plate #....
As the owner of an M318ti I can say these are hella butt fun. Not a super clean example, but a great driver if it's sorted.

Not having functioning a/c is insane in vegas. It's ridiculously easy to get it working in a swap like that. I'd be surprised if all factory parts wouldn't work.
Can I get a budget wash for challenge purposes if I fly to Vegas and drive it to Gainesville next week?

Swapped 318tis go for $3-5K all the time. It is a good price when you factor in the seats and wheels. I am curious what the dog that bit the a-pillar looked like.
Got the owner on the phone, the story sounds reasonably legit. A carfax garage report suggests the car has lived in CA its whole (and had a lot of owners), the mileage is off but makes me think the M3 cluster matches the motor and seats, I see camber plates that don't look like maxpeeding rods. This would be a much nicer car to autocross than my e39, flights from CO to Vegas are like $50, and it's not the worst drive in the world. A bad idea is shaping up here.

Ha! I'm stuck on a Carfax Garage report that the car passed emissions on 4/24/23. The car should have been in Vegas by then. The story I was told is that because the title was transferred as a "gift" emissions weren't required. Not sure what the scam would be here but I think it's fair to proceed with skepticism. We'll see....
My brother has also been in contact on this thing. We shall see who wins out. Haha. He already has a black winter/daily ti so this is perfect
