Our office is moving downtown and my SUV will not fit in the garage. My old 850 should get me started, but I believe it's on its last legs and I don't want to put any money into it. Looking for something that will;

  • probably start every morning
  • make me laugh
  • occasionally run autocross without making spectators laugh(much)
  • not require a boatload of work

I'm in the Denver area but my father-in-law is in southern California. I've always thought picking up a car there could be a great roadtrip. A t5 Volvo is probably a better answer as I already have some go fast (around corners) parts to swap to a p80, but these are hard to find with a manual trans. It seems like there are a reasonable amount of semi-prepped Miatas in this price range, maybe you have one!

If you don't go the P80 route I may be interested in your go-fast parts. 850 wagon all day everyday.

Only bad thing with cars in the LA area are that they normally have pretty high mileage if used as daily driver.

An t5 850 wagon makes a lot of sense, but I'd really like to be able to row my own and I don't need a wagon. Premium gas, yada yada. This is plan B.

I've had good luck with high mileage in the past and don't mind fixing the small things that come up. Until recently the wife had a 360k accord, I made it to 325k on my Taco before it was hailed on. The Volvo sits at 275k but I suppose that it's no longer a shining example of reliability and power

I've got an 850 turbo upgraded to the R specs, love it to death.
