Been weighing my options lately. Decided to go with the newer car/older truck route, rather than the opposite. No preference on color/options (other than I'd like to pass on black).

Looking for <80k miles unless it has the records to back it up, as stock as possible. Intake/exhaust/suspension ok. Needs to be @ ~$20k to make things work. There's a few locally, but I thought I'd reach out here. I'm in Detroit, but would fly nationwide for the right car (White?). Being mildly prepped for SS is a bonus. Care more about good maintinence records than anything.

I have been lurking locally and they seem to hover in the $23,000 range for higher mileage to $27,000 for around 35K mile examples.

I've found ones in the 60k mile range for $20-23 locally here. Was just expanding my search area a bit. Underbody rust shouldn't really be an issue, being a 3-season car.

To be honest, I'm going to drive the piss out of it over the next few years until it's Viper time. My thought process is that I'd rather have something that was driven/maintined than something which sat and let everything detriorate.

By the time I had the ACR at the level I wanted, I'd be close to purchase price for a Z06, and it wouldn't be anywhere near as reliable. I could also devote the wrenching time to finishing the 79 Corvette, which is already in the garage. I need to quit while I'm ahead, I lack the time for multiple projects these days.

I've seen multiple under $20K up here in the Great Lakes. You'll find one!

As you noted, I'm less afraid of something like a northern Corvette, as so few people drive them in the winter. They tend to be stored indoors, and have lower miles than what you find regionally elsewhere.

EDIT: NMNA...

EDIT again... slightly above your budget (asking $25K), might take less... but it's your color, only 42K, and it looks immaculate:

Note to remember......'01's were rated at 385hp, 02-4 were 405hp out of the box. I know simple things, but not simple things to overcome if running in SuperStock.
