Hey all,

Longtime lurker / reader. Came back to the forums when a page popped up from this site w/ a discussion about owning/living with a Subaru XT6. Figured this crowd would most likely know of any for sale not on craigslist. I am looking for a 5-speed XT6 that is healthy mechanically (I don't mind rough cosmetics, provided it's not rusty).

A long shot, but I have a nicely restored 1987 BMW 535is that I will be moving along to take on a potential XT6 project and something else, so if there's some crazy way the universe has aligned an XT6 owner who wants to get into the E28 business, let me know. It would likely require a car + cash on your end, as the E28 really is quite nice.

Thanks all.

Can't really help you, but I'd love to see pics of the e28.

I'm currently trying to sell my (definitely not restored) 87 535is.

Sure. It's an '87 IS with Pacific Blue interior. Confortti chip, H&R/Bilstein suspension, genuine M5 wheels with matching spare, etc. Had body cleaned up/dents banged out, new seals, new bumper trim on the front and rear, etc. California car all of its life that I shipped out to New England since it was entirely rust-free.

Looks nice!

Yeah, mine has a ton of dents, and the paint is not in good shape. Not really any rust though! I think there one or two small bubbles in the sunroof, but that's all I've seen.

The most fun car I ever drove was an EG33 powered XT6. Awesome- outran an NSX on the Tail of the Dragon.

But that doesn't help you one bit- just reminiscing.

Unfortunately, I can't help you. Good luck!

No worries. Glad to hear of the good memories. My mom almost bought one in the 80s and I've never gotten the weirdness out of my brain. That, and my '03 Legacy is the sole Japanese car I've owned that I still miss to this day. Just had a pleasing quality about it.

Here's an odd place to check:

Subaru SVX Network

Some of the SVX community are also fans of the XT6. A couple of them have built EG33 powered XT6s. One member in particular, Huck369, is very knowledgeable, and used to have several XT6s in his stable.

Good luck!

Worth a shot. Question for ya: both the SVX forum you referenced and the SubaruXT.com message boards are good resources for me, but I've registered on both sites and neither one has sent me an approval notice (and I still can't log in). Nothing in spam, either. Any chance you could ping a mod on my behalf to see what's up?

What about an XT Turbo?

Regardless of whether I do or not, interested in selling it? Wouldn't mind reading up on the car's mechanical systems anyway.

You'll need to log in to post.
