Yes, this appears to be a Jaguar XJR-S (one of 448 pre-facelift models), but something’s a bit off with its looks. That’s because German tuning house Arden put their hands on it to create this 1991 Arden Jaguar AJ 6.

Arden reworked the body lines, revised the aerodynamic profile and even raised the roofline to provide more headroom for passengers in the back. One other body design item of note: “the C-pillar was narrowed in order to improve the driver visibility a point of contention between Jaguar and the German authorities who would not grant type-approval to the standard [model] due to the restricted rear visibility.”

What’s under the hood? A 6.0-liter V12 that came with the TWR Jaguar Sport XJS-R, rated for 298 horsepower. It was a sizeable increase over the standard 5.3-liter V12 in the XJ-S that produced 260. This car also comes with a special, Arden four-speed ZF automatic transmission.

Find this 1991 Arden Jaguar AJ 6 2+2 Coupe up for sale at Collectors Garage, with an estimated value of €79,500 (about $84,000 USD).

That German Jag is tantalizing.  The front looks sloped down like an Avanti.  Would like an interior  exterior side shots to appreciate the change in the C pillar.

Not many photos available to show off that C pillar area, but here's a couple more.

The body sculpting is beautifully done (and it's a seriously difficult thing to do!), but losing the "flying buttresses" of the XJS loses the dynamic and unique character of that car. And with the degree of mods to this car, it deserves a Getrag 5-speed manual like my 1993 XJS 4.0!
