MG Midget. Total beater rustbucket even then. But lord, the A series engine is a sweet one.

In May, 1975 I had a 1970 Colorado yellow/orange BMW 2002 and a tired 1959 Austin Mini 850 with modified suspension. Late '75 sold the Bimmer (although I loved the car)and bought a Rabbit, which acquired short springs, swaybars and Bilsteins. Worked much better than the Bimmer in heavy northern Arizona snowstorms, which we had with regularity at that time. Back then I had only modest skills, no shop and no money, so didn't get to do what I should have to the Mini, but glad I had the opportunity to own and autocross one. Started stage rallying in 1975, back when SCCA was "run what you brung". Interesting times.

In reply to tomtomgt356: Yes I'm old! But I'm thrilled to be old enough to have traveled across the country many times before interstates were common & before police speed radar, stop light cameras, etc., etc. were in use!

In 1975, when I was 6...I was riding in my Dads TR-4A Solid Axel car. He sold it and the new owner promptly totaled it.

20 years or so later, I got to maintain and later fly Hueys, Cobras, and OH-58s with some of the guys that had to fly them when the paint was fresh.

Riding in in the inward facing jumper seats in the way back of this on the way to the newly opened Disney World. How many plastic trees were cut down to make one? :)

I was finishing undergraduate and getting ready to start graduate school (cuz no job offers). I was driving a 72 Vega. I passed on chances to buy a Sunbeam Tiger and a TR-3 for $400 each because I was a poor college student. The Tiger ran, but poorly and had a burnt valve. Around the same time I had a chance to buy a one-family owned XK-150S for $2,200.

On the anniversay of the fall of Vietnam, they had two excellent specials on TV that told me alot I did not know.
