A friend and his dad rent a warehouse-type building for their personal workspace. Each October they host a little get-together: invite friends, fire up the grille and, ta-da, instant party.

The big debate is what to drive over in. Last year I took the wagon. I'm thinking that I'll bring the Porsche this year.

So, basically, what an easy way to put together a memorable event. Anyone else doing things like this?

Mark Stielow famously has his "car party" each year. I have a friend at GM who has gone. From what I gather it is memorable for the caliber of cars that show up at some guy's house. The yard is packed and the streets are lined.

I came up with a concept of a group taking turns hosting a car themed movie night at their shops. I never got traction because I couldn't find enough people interested in both hosting, and keeping it a bit exclusive (ie. you must have a garage/shop). I pointed out that it didn't have to be your shop that it was hosted in, but it didn't help.

My dads shop is right next to a baseball stadium in Richmond so every 4th of july we always have a car show in the parking lot with a food truck and some bands and watch the fireworks feom the stadium

I have such gatherings twice a year in my backyard. Grill, burgers and lots of car talk. Anyone can drive in anything they want (even a cab) but people tend to bring their special cars for the occasion and as someone said the driveway and street is lined up.

Our local British car Club does a progressive dinner every year near Christmas. Appetizer at one house /shop, main course at another, and dessert/snacks at the last. If you're in an Italian car Club this could last all week...
