Where would I even start looking in the US?
Basically a Guilia or a GT/GTV have been on my bucket list for a while. I did own a 1750 GTV about 15 years back but that never turned a wheel under its own power. Nearly bought a 1600 GT road legal race car in the UK but I've had issues with the steering on that one (old arm injury and heavy steering doesn't mix well for me).
I found the AROC classifieds but I'm not sure if that's the sort of price that is normal or if that's just with 'club bonus'.
And yes, I'm kinda sorta bench racing at the moment.
This is easy. First check out classifieds and the Grassroots classifieds at:
http://classicmotorsports.net/classifieds/
http://grm.racingjunk.com/
Also search on the Alfa BB at:
http://www.alfabb.com/bb/forums/alfa-romeo-cars-sale-wanted/
Then be sure to check Bring a Trailer daily at:
http://bringatrailer.com/
Then check both eBay and Craigslist and make sure to search all the big city Craigslists with a tool like crazedlist.org.
A nice 1960's Alfa is a beautiful and fun to drive car that is also getting to be a good collectible. A fun car with lots of stuff that you can do with it. I recommend everyone have an Alfa at least once.
Finally a GT/GTV or GT Junior currently cost between $10,000 and $25,000 with the large spread dependent on specific model and year differences and condition. They are all fun to drive so look for the nicest one you can find in your budget. The $10,000 cars are just about gone so shop fast.

autotempest.com and jaxed.com are ok replacements for craiglook. Andy's right - if you find a good one on the cheap, jump on it. Even the tin tops are getting up there in price compared to just a few years ago.
My buddy sold his 1750 GTV back in the day for $400. Kicks himself now.
I sold my '73 for about $3,500 back in the late '90's...very distressing...
I hadn't realised that these have gone up that much in value, even though the prices in the UK were moving in a similar direction when I last looked.
I'm not sure that I'd want to pay that much for an Alfa with the potential exception of a Montreal - they're neat cars, but that sort of money buys me other vehicles I'd much rather have (like the $18k early 911 that I found on Pelican last night). A decent condition 4-door Guilia for $8k-$10k would be something I could see myself buying, but for something closer to $20k I'd rather have a different vehicle.
Probably makes me officially weird.
I don't disagree entirely Tim, though a Alfa GTV is a very neat car offering a very unique driving experience. A cheap to run historic Italian car, one of the few.
