More guttural and mic-ed better. I actually have both of these sounds "racing" each other on my Rogersound Labs computer powered speaker setup (with subwoofer) right now.
Find a bunch of vintage '50s and '60s cars on YouTube and run the audio all at once. You can almost smell the bean oil.

One is a cutaway BRM V16 the other is a slightly used V16 crank, both were taken at Donington.
