I always find it interesting at car shows how there are the single marque enthusiasts and the full spectrum enthusiasts. The single marque guys mostly only hang out with other owners of their particular car and don't pay much attention to the other types of cars. In contrast the full spectrum guys appreciate everything just because its an old car.
I know a couple of single marque guys. One guy is into older 911's and thats it. Anything else doesn't matter, even other Porsches.
Myself, I'll admit to being a full spectrum enthusiast. If I had more money and an airplane hanger I'd own full fleet of all kinds of different cars.
I restore old Volvos and/or make them go faster. I already know what they look like. Mixed marque meets are a lot more interesting for me.
Tell me about it. I like 80s-90s watercooled VWs. The aircooled guys act like I don't exist, even though I like the aircooled cars a lot. And a lot of my fellow watercooled owners turn up their noses at my love of early Hondas. I personally think everybody needs to lighten up, stuff like this makes it easier for enemies of the hobby. What was that Ben Franklin said about everyone hanging separately?

Full spectrum all the way. I've owned and enjoyed Lotus, Sunbeam, Morris, Alfa, Volvo 122S, Austin Healy, MX5, Studebaker, Jeep CJ, Land Rover, etc. When I go to a show/race/event, I check out everything. Nothing makes me crazier than the person who parks their car, pulls out a chair, and doesn't move until the show is over.
I'm a little of both - there are a couple brands I'm really into, but I like all sorts of things.

I knew a guy just like that. British Car Day in Oakville, Ontario would attract almost a thousand cars of every type, but this guy wouldn't move ten feet away from the Sunbeam Tigers since that what he owned.
I'm full spectrum for sure. I was a big big Chevy only guy for a long time until I became interested in imports, then it just blew up from there. I like just about everything. Growing up with Corvairs definitely helped. They were so different from everything else, that I became interested in quirky, different cars.

I like cars. New cars. Old cars. Antique cars. Muscle cars. Sports cars. Luxury cars. 4x4 trucks.
I like cars.
In the middle somewhere. I like lots of marques but there are plenty of marques with other models that I don't like. Example: Porsche, but really don't like the Cayanne or Cayman. Like Corvettes but not Malibus'.
I suspect this board is mostly full spectrum guys - posting on a model specific forum might get different results. When I see a story about someone who's collected dozens of a particular example of a car, I always find myself scratching my head - if I had the money to get two dozen cars for a collection, they would probably span a century of production time and have been made by at least a dozen different companies.

You betcha. That's actually one of the reasons I started coming over here in the first place. Seems like I only ever visit a marque forum anymore is when I'm looking for parts.

Ditto, but I think most of the folks on the forum are better described as "broad-spectrum". My tastes in cars are pretty eclectic, but there are cars that just don't do much for me.
Full spectrum here , my buddy freaked at a car show . We where walking and there was an old original amc wagon I stopped dead in my tracks. Said look there he laughed .Not into a marque club clik
I'm full spectrum for sure but how about this. . . I love engine/parts swaps so long as they are from the same brand. . . does that make me a purist?? been called that before but I dont think it applys. . . I dont like to keep things stock at all, just don't like mixing brands. . . I guess that makes me a full spectrum enthusiast but a brand loyal modder?? lol
I have a huge appreciation for all brands. I get so frustrated here in PA. The last show I attended had a thousand white-trash unworthy cars. There was one guy with a beautiful DB6 that he drove to the event and nobody cared. Everyone was too busy drooling over the 73 Mopar in grey primer "cuz it gots a hemi"
lol Yeah I get a little tired of the guys who expect some sort of pat on the back for stuffing a sbc into anything with a different nameplate. at this point i think it's more noteworthy to build the stock engine than stuff some un-effecient oil burning 350 into anything. . . . i don't care what kind of car it is, it's been done, dozens of times over

To me it's only slightly less annoying when people have single country of origin fixation. I love Kraut Cars, Rice Burners, Molly Lollys, Pasta Wagons, Croc Mobiles, & even some Flag Wavers.
I can't tell you how happy I was to annoy some of my flag waving friends about the tsunami caused shortages. Apparently the first final motor vehicle assembly plant to shut down in the world due to the tsunami caused lack of parts was an All American Chevy pickup plant. And that Silverado factory is in where else, Mexico.
And yes Mexico and Canada are both also NAFTA countries. So "American Content" stickers on new vehicles consider vehicles assembled in Mexico or Canada the same as those assembled near Detroit or Marysville.

Which would already be a non-stock swap in a Charger or Barracuda for that year, and if they had put one in something like a '73 Duster or Imperial, it would be odd enough that I might give that almost as much attention as a DB6 if they both showed up at the same show.
