Finally blessed with a little free time, we spent a few days just sorting our little Spitfire. First we had a tail light issue to figure out. For some unknown reason we kept blowing fuses and losing our taillights. replacing a wire that had a bare spot solved that problem.

Hi Tim, I remember reading a little about your spitfire but I apologize for not remembering that much about it. Do the Webers make a difference on a stock engine and are the innards of the engine stock? Dave.

wannacruise, The late Spitfires had a single Stromberg carb that was a compromise at best. The UK cars had twin SUs, I believe to the end. Switching to twin SUs or a single, or twin Weber set up, does make these cars run nicer.

I am not sure what has been done to the inside of our engine. I was told it had been "gone through" and "hotted up" by a former owner, but who knows what that means. When we got it, it had the the single DCOE 40, which we sorted and it runs great now.
