Don't hang out with any other TR8 owners since I don't know any, maybe they're just too rare, but my brother has a TR6 and Lotus Europa TC, best friend has TR3 and Acura NSX since recently selling his 66 911, friend has 70 Mach I Mustang, another friend has 1951 Mercury and Chevy Corvair and another has a 66 Jag E type that he's owned since paying $1300. in 1974. My lawyer (and friend) has a Volvo P1800 and also worked with a guy who had a P1800. My mechanic has a bug eye Sprite. Anybody else I know outside of our local British car club doesn't seem to be into old cars.

You've got to start hanging out with a higher class of people.

My best friend with the NSX/TR3 owned a 1969 GTV way back in the day (mid 70'ish) . His ex wife (then both in their early 20's) literally ran away and stole it and was driving across Canada in the winter moving from Ontario to B.C. when it broke done in rural Manitoba. The guy in the local garage told her it would take $400. plus a few days to ship in parts from Winnipeg. She told the mechanic to forget it and he could keep the car while she would take the bus across the rest of the country. He never saw his Alfa again. Never purchased another Alfa again probably because they remind him too much of the ex. His GTV was blue btw, not red.

Well unfortunately none of my friends are car guys. Actually, I take that back, I have one car guy friend, but I don't see him very often and he doesn't have anything past his DD.

I was hoping in this small town I moved to last year, I would meet some people, but that hasn't happened either.

Well, my closest friend is a muscle car guy. He has a 55 Chevy convertible, 55 Chevy sedan (next project), 67 GTO and a 66 Grand Prix. He restored/restomod all of them. Or in the process between trips to Afghanistan. When he returns he's helping me with the bodywork on my Midget.

I'm in 2 clubs locally, 1 a racing club and the other a British car club. Have friends with Midgets, MGBs, Spitfires, TR6's, Morgan Aero8. The only other non-Brit car guy in the Brit car club with me has a Volvo 1800ES and is original owner of his BMW 2002. Have another friend that has a couple 2002's and a couple Miata's. In the racing club, several other Miata owner and one guy that has quite a collection(Tiger, NSX, M6).

I need better car friends! I have two neighbors who are car guys, but 'Merican stuff. My wife's cousin has a mildly modded Accord, so basically I have nobody. Well, actually my dad has a '87 Biturbo which everyone will sass, but his is in great shape, reliable, fast, and quite the nice Gt. If there is anyone in the Hudson Valley area, (NY) looking for a car guy friend to hang out with, go on drives with etc. I'm up for it.

I too have a TR8 (and a scruffy one, at that) and no close friends with any other Triumphs in their garages although one just bought an AH Sprite which I have yet to see. But my best friend who goes all the way back to college days (43 yrs!) has a number of Alfas. His first, a Guilietta, was towed home by me in my old Dodge van. Back then, you could get away with a 15' piece of rope tied to your bumper, with the other end attached haphazardly to the vehicle you were towing, flying down city streets at 45 mph and your buddy crowding the center of the road so you could see him in your mirror. Watched him restore the Alfa in between classes. In fact, 4 of us lifted the engine out of the engine bay - we were too damn poor to afford an engine hoist. In the years since, he has become reasonably successful and his everyday driver is a Cayman S. Additionally, he has an Alfa duetto vintage race car and a step nose GTV. Just recently, he decided to pick up some classic English tin, making an excited phone call to me one evening saying he'd just purchased TWO Jaguars; a series 1 XKE and an XK-140! Haven't seen either Jag yet but very much looking forward to our next visit.

Other than the local British car club and their assorted MGs, TRs, and Healeys, I only have one other friend that has anything interesting, and that's an NSX. I used to have a friend who owned an early Miata. However, I haven't seen him much after he sold it and bought a nineties-era Mustang V6 automatic convertible.

My best friend drives and races Triumph TR8s. His friends (kinda my friends) do as well. The rest of the folks that I know drive air cooled Volkswagens.

I drive a late model Mustang (am endlessly on the lookout for a TR7 coupe that I can afford) and dream of finishing one of my other pathetic projects . . .

I'm mostly in the same boat with the exception of a couple of old friends from my high school days. One has a couple rusty BMW sedans from the 70s, the other likes miscellaneous Chevy muscle and International Scouts.

We have a very active Miata club here. (40+) cars. Plus the British club which I was the original treasurer of. And of course a local SCCA Region which used to be a rally and autocross club. Now they almost do only auto crossing. Besides the clubs thing, I have friends with all kind of Classics, ZCars, PL-510s, 560SL, NSX, Gen I RX-7, Alfas, etc. This area is full of classic enthusiasts.

Once each year we have a British Bash here which typically brings in 200 cars plus another show, called the Mission Driven Car Show which has up to 250 cars per year, and finally once a month we have a cars and coffee on Saturday morning which usually draws 75+ cars in decent weather. It's not at all unusual to see at least a couple of Ferraris there plus the occasional Contach, Hyper-Porsche, a guy with a '60 Galaxy Wagon pulling an original 60's Airstream, etc.

There is one other annual event we have locally, you may have never heard of which lasts about three days. The Cushman Scooter Club Reunion is in a small town nearby. It's hilarious to see them out on a "dinner drive" doing 45 or so on their Cushmans.

BTW: A lot of my fun car owning friends, including various club members, are women. Some are single, some married, but they all are about using their cars themselves either way.

Just got a call from a friend in the Porsche club. He wanted to know why I didn't mention our local chapter of the PCA. Here it is. Also I probably should mention another fairly active local club it's our local chapter of the Jaguar Drivers. Finally the cars and coffee gatherings are put on by our local Alfa club. Jaguar and Alfa people, I apologize I can't remember the full name of your national clubs.

Now if I was into street rods, there's a lot of that activity around here, and I'd be able to make plenty of street rod friends. Within a 20 mile radius there's a cruise-in every night of the week during the spring/summer/fall months. But street rods just aren't a major priority for me, and there are other things I would spend that kind of money on before a street rod.

Same here, same with me.

TONS of rods and customs. The cruise night held in Foxboro near the foot ball stadium every other Thursday night regularly draws 3,000 cars.

No exaggeration, they do a final "head count" at the end of the evening just before the National Anthem at closing.

Several of my friends are "car guys" and have an eclectic variety of cars...including 2 Tigers (65 and 66), a 67 XKE under restoration, several Datsuns (510 and Zs), a few Toyota Celicas (73, 84,88GT4), 63 MGB and 69 GT6 vintage racers, and 69 Chevelle SS396. Lately our discussions have been plans/dreams related to the upcoming vintage racing season, with maybe an extra race stateside for the Kastner Cup at Summit Point with the GT6. 3 of us live within a 10 mile radius and 2 of us are in the same village. As a group, we try to get together for supper once a month or so to compare notes.

The guy I autocross with has the following: 2 Austin Healeys (one really nice, one burned to the ground), Jensen Healey, 3 Bugeyes, TR6, TR3, V8 MGB, Lotus Europa, and a Jaguar XJ6C. Many of these are projects and need work, but that's covering your bases.
