Looks like you need to pull valve covers to do the gears/chains, but might be able to do the guides just pulling timing cover? The front part of valve cover gasket's might survive that?

Also, are you familiar with a upgrade to the tensioners that have a ratcheting part, so that remain tight even if oil pressure drops some? Are the worth extra, over the metal stock ones?

One more thing... is it worth adjustable crank gears and degree both banks with a bit of cam advance?

If memory serves you still need to at least loosen the valve cover to get the front timing cover off but you dont need to fully remove it. I know I didnt replace the valve cover gaskets so it was a minor enough bit of movement to survive it all.

Im afraid I only have experience with the stock components so I cannot comment on the other bits.
