So on my 2012 Hyundai Sonata, the starter started kicking itself out while cranking. My boss and I diagnosed a bad bendix... so me being frugal and not wanting to spend $300-$400~ on a starter, I ordered a bendix. I got it on the lift today and found the plastic lever between the solenoid and bendix drive had snapped. I decided to try JB quick weld and stuck the lever back together... and ordered a new lever. When I put the starter back in the car and tried to start the motor, it did the same thing it had been doing before and kept either just spinning and not engaging or the flywheel would kick it out before the car could get started.
My question now is: is the solenoid bad now? Or did the lever break already?
Also, would you order an oem solenoid and lever that I found on eBay for $40 and wait on it a week, or get a starter from oriellys for $200 (after company discount)?
