So Monday afternoon I am working on my $2014 challenge Miata in the driveway when my elderly neighbor walks up. Knowing I am into cars he proceeds to tell me that his Samurai got stuck in gear while towing his utility trailer around his yard. He limped the truck to his buddy's tire shop who looked at it before telling him "it isn't worth fixing". My disheartened neighbor called a local junk yard who offered him $100.00 for the truck, sight unseen. Fortunately for me he didn't immediately accept their offer. I told him I would give him more then the junk yard and I would save it from getting crushed. He offered me the truck for $120.00 and I of course accepted. Score!
An hour later the truck was in my drive way and the title was in my kitchen.

Nice score!
But the URL for this thread takes out the decimal point from the title, making it look like you got it for 12000.
SCORE. Not bad looking either. This can be fun!

That would be crazy...
The truck has a little rust but nothing to bad. A quick google search leads me to believe that the stuck shifter is caused by a worn locator bolt. I ordered a new bolt and shifter bushing which should be here saturday. Hopefully that will fix my problem, and I will have a great toy for running around the beach and wheeling behind my parents house.
I'll give you $200...
Seriously though, I'm an hour away and I have a trailer.
I am jealous. Really. I'd love to have an excuse to play with a Samurai, and being offered one that needs a modest repair for $120 would be an excuse it would be inexcusable to ignore.
Wow amazing deal, and I see an AC compressor too! Damn I gotta pay more than $120 to get a pair of brake drums imported for mine.
Awesome. Now that's a good monday!
I always liked those little trucklets..
That is an absolute steal. Nicely done!
Friggin' sweet! Man, you can't turn that down! Good luck and keep us updated on the fix! That little thing would be a blast in the snow we just got here!
You're really going to like it... I like mine!
Hell, I'd give $120 for it too!

Thanks for all the positive comments everyone. I am pretty stoked about having something to wheel again. Unfortunately as I spend more money on my land cruiser restoring it I am less inclined to take it in the woods. As a matter of fact I just spent 15 times the suzuki's price on paint and body work on the cruiser. I won't have the same problem with the Zuki.
In a surprise from out of left field, my wife who usually is less then amused with the various piles of automotive trash that I haul home, said we should keep it and get a back seat so the kids can ride.
And I thought my bud got a deal at 300 for his with the same problem.its a common and easy fix so youre going to have a lot of really cheap fun!
Nice! Now TDI swap that thing!
No one else has stepped up to the plate so let me be the first to say, You suck.
The only thing that would make this sweeter is if it was a tin top like toyman's.
Right now the elderly neighbor is at the local diner for the early bird special, bragging to his friends how he just got $120 for that crappy piece of Jap tin.
OP's neighbor : " There isn't enough scrap metal in that thing to make a case of tuna cans! What a sucker!"
They bounce like a pogo, roll over if you lean against them, and.... are great! A good friend swears by his and says that he'll drive it till he dies. Good find!
