I'm building a miata for the ministock class at our local oval track. You have to run steel wheels max 7" wide. I can get custom made ones from diamond for about $100 each. I'm looking for something a little more budget friendly since I'm just starting out. Does anyone know of a wide 4x100 14" option? I don't know if e30's ever came with steelies, but if they did, that might be a good option since the alloys tend to be wide. Anyone else know another option?
They HAVE to be steel wheels? E30 basketweaves are 14x6.5, but alloy.
The e30 steel wheels are 6" wide I believe. They are dirt cheap.
E30s came with steel wheels? I thought the cheapest wheel you could get were bottlecaps?
You might want to look at older Honda Accord's I know a lot of base models had steel wheels. I am not sure what the widths were. Many Civics had steel wheels in the '90s but they were very narrow (5 to 5.5 inches).
Accords were the wrong bolt pattern. Yes they have to be steel. Any idea where to find e30 steel wheels?
4X100 is an older VW wheel I believe. I have a set of steelies that are 14" 4X100 but I don't know the width. 5.5" or 6" I think. I use them as rain tires for my IT car. The 1st and 2nd gen. VW's at the junkyard should have these.

They're only 5.5" wide, and I haven't seen any for sale in a while.
What about getting 4 spare tire wheels from an E30? No idea of how wide they might be, but I'm betting they were steel.
Another thought... I believe 4 x 4" will fit a 4x100. Check early GM compacts like Vega/Monza.
My friend Eric was digging around for wheels, and managed to unearth a set of 15x9 steelies with a 4x100 pattern and a -1 offset. They'd look awesome on a Miata 
They would look awesome, but unfortunately I am limited to 7" wide and have to run 60 series tires.

E30s usually had a full size alloy (if the car had alloys) spare.

You could get e30 steel wheels for snow tires from the dealership

Get some old GM A-body 14x7s from a junkyard and cut the centers out on a lathe. Do the same with your choice of 5x14/4x100 steelies. Press the 4x100 centers into the 7' wide rims and have them welded by a good welder. You can make any offset you want while you're at it.
Bassett makes what you want. We just bought some 15x7 4x100 rims for our $500 endurance Chevette. They're on the heavy side but that's to be expected with steel rims.
I do not know the width but I have steel 14" on my Miata with 195/60 Falken RT-615. I see quite a few around here with steel wheels and all seasons on them.
1989 and older Accords have a 4x100 bolt pattern. I think the steel wheels are only 5.5" wheels, though. I have a set I don't need, but they aren't worth shipping.
I thought some NA's came w/steel wheels. I've seen a few w/them. Probably only 5.5 though.
Some early Neons came with steel wheels in a 4x100 bolt pattern.
The problem with most factory 14 inch rims is they are 5.5 wide. 5.0 and 6.0 are rare outliers.
unless you have some super stiff sidewall tires like certain slicks there's no performance tire for a miata you can fit on a 5.5 wheel.
Gen I Neons were available with 14x6 alloys and MP offered a 14x7 IT wheel. But they were 5x100. The older Charger 2.2's were available with a 4x 100 14x6 Rallye Wheel. I have a set.
Can't Diamond Racing do a custom 14x7 for relatively short money???
These are hot w/ the hellaflush crowd because you can get 15x10's to put your 195/50-15's on.
