I'm the opposite.
I love the pre-war car driving / maintenance experience.
Modern cars all operate pretty much the same way. Early cars don't, each manufacturer was innovating and I enjoy experiencing the differences.
70mph in a car with a 500+ Cid six, rear wheel brakes and a sliding-gear transmission feels like you've climbed on top of a locomotive.
It would be a very boring world if we all liked the same thing.

I ride with you. For the occasional drive they are very fun. It is a totally different experience from anything in the last 70 years. It's as different from driving a later model car as riding a motorcycle is to driving a car.

I have a love for old machines of all types.
My lathe is a 1947 I restored years ago. I have old farm engines dating back to the 1920s I used to haul to shows around the state to spend the day running.
I have had a hand in restoring 3 tractors dating back to the early 40s. I have also restored and repaired close to 30 clocks dating back to the 1890s.
I took this for a spin around the neighborhood and loved every second of it. The engine is as smooth as a sewing machine. The vacuum fuel system is super neat. Honestly it doesn't drive much different than most manual cars. It just has a few quirks that give it personality.
While the Falcon is the next car to get some shop time, I'm really looking forward to tinkering with this thing and puttering around town in it.

Nothing runs smoother than a low compression 6. Please be careful with the wooden wheels, they are hard to crack check, or any other non destruction test. Enjoy it for what it is.
