Stumbled across this today. Quick look showed a big block Chevy (I assume 454) with TBI. Thinking about putting the engine in my K30. Shows 9,100 miles and he said he could get the batteries charged and engine running by this weekend. Thoughts on the following?
- Getting rid of the corpse.
- Keep everything for TBI or covert to carb?
- How da hell do you pull the engine out of one of these?
- I'm really concerned about getting rid of the corpse. Did I mention that?

As does David Freiburger and Mike Finnegan. As they learned, junkyards frequently won't take these with the body on, so they had to sawzall the body off, rent a dumpster and dispose of it, pluck the driveline bits they wanted and scrap the rest.

Shotgun?
1) Cut a hole....
2) Rent a dumpster
3) Cut up body and place body in dumpster.
4) Clean out house, garage, yard, etc. while you're at and have the dumpster.
5) Invite friends and family to make use of dumpster after helping pay for it, provide punch and pie.
6) Making lists is fun.
7) ??
8) Profit, er, gain 454 TBI setup for nefarious uses.
I agree with the others, scrap the body best you can, chassis can go to scrapyard.
The TBI is pretty easy to swap into another truck, I did it with a 79 GMC Dually. Wiring is really the hard part, which just takes some time figure out. Mine came out of a truck with a 4L80e and I had a manual transmission. Didn't even care that no transmission was hooked up, ran just fine. If you don't use it, it is worth some money, especially the throttle body. It has the big 2" bore throttle plates (670 cfm), popular upgrade for small block TBI setups.
Park it in the backyard & make a playhouse for Little Stampie?
It's too big to roll up in a carpet and toss off a bridge so Sawzalls and a dumpster would be my next choice. The last roll off I rented cost me about $350 and it gets delivered to and from the crime scene so you don't have to do much more than hack and load. As a bonus once you cut the nose off the engine should be easy to pull.
There's still chunks of RV around my house from that time we harvested a 440. We did some cutting over the radiator and dash area to make room for the engine hoist and pulled the engine and trans all together straight forward. Since the body needs to be disposed of anyway, cut as much as you want to make room for whatever you want to do.

Yes the TBI TB is a much sought after piece, maybe Pete G might even be interested ... the carcass, err maybe a room for next years Halloween scare a thon???
I've got a 1990 bounder that I'd love to pull the TBI 454 from...the problem is that it's in great condition and we actually use it. One day though...
Woohoo. I found a scraper that said he'd take the corpse as long as it has title. I'm thinking I'll keep the TBI in case I want to use it later. Now to make a deal on it.

#firstworldproblems lol! After putting hundreds of miles on my buddy's Ford v10 motorhome i've grown more appreciation for that motor and tried to figure out what i would put it into.. So i can somewhat relate.
wonder if you could talk a fire department into a controlled burn...

When I interned at a hot rod shop for a summer, they had a customer with a '49 Mercury with the Triton V10
