Who is going to do the 2010 Babe

2.
Unless my girlfriend magically changes her mind, i'm still down for going with you.... I don't see her coming round. She loves her A/C too much.
But either way. Regardless of whether i have to buy my own car or not, i'm in.
2010 is going to be a good year. I'll be at the Challenge as well.
Maybe. Might still be selling the damn house by then and therefore broke
On the upside I worked on the Volvo last weekend, and theres always the dark horse.....
Misfit Toys Racing in one or many of its forms will be back as always. After 4 years we're not allowed to NOT show up.
Doing something a little special next year. Still hashing out the details so we cant quite let the cat out of the bag yet.
It looks like I might be forced into taking a European vacation next year, and probably won't have enough vacation time or money for the BABE. If that falls through, I'll be there for sure. I've already got the car and the theme.
Team Turd will most likely be there again, continueing our ongoing theme of only making it there on even-numbered years.
hey hong's they will only let you guys in you do not deal with a flaming mess.....and no blue horns....
Can we as Babe competitors team up for service support and good old GRM budship without breaching any ruling
In reply to aussiesmg: Absolutely. BABE is very much about camaraderie and helping others.
This year team MisfitToys Racing had 3 cars who ran together to help each other, with others sometimes along with us - JThw8's 69 Olds, Littleturquioseb's and TheWake's 73 Lincoln Continantal, and my 86 Fiero.
For 2010 things are in the works for the MIsfits and still being figured out, but it is something special, and my girlfriend is planning her own all girl team.
Poopy - trust me, this event has Hong written all over it. You'd love it. You and Matt and Wayne should grab some complete pile from a police auction, a few cases of beer, and come enjoy the insanity.
I have my pile, just need to get it running...lol
How does it work with the budget and replacing non working parts, ie tires, starter, tie rod
Not next year, the Ranchero is going, very like a XA/B ute, 9" C6 and a 302, rough as guts, price was right at $50 though

Unlike Lemons, GRM challenge, etc the budget is not a defining factor in BABE.
Buy the car for $500 or less, then put $5 or $5000 into it, noone cares.
The bottom line is you should be driving a POS, but a SAFE POS so noone is going to restrict the budget on making the car roadworthy.
If your car is too nice you'll know it and you'll feel bad, nothing more. If its REALLY too nice you wont be competitive....the marshals find ways to ensure that.
Babe Rally car is alive, had it running for 15 minutes today, no leaks except brakes are gushing fluid.
Fix the brake lines, put on decent tires and its done.... well except for that theme thing... I have some ideas
Ok this is a little of the topic but help me learn about the rally. My girl friend and I want to go on the 2010 babe and get married. She seems to be down with doing this and brings it up all the time. If she can hang out in a $500 car for a week and not kill me she must be a keeper! So what do you guys think? Could this be fun?
Hell yeah, you have to do it, thereby obeying she who must be obeyed.
The rally is not a race, and some of the basics are listed in here for you. Check out the site although it is not yet updated for 2010.
The wedding would be a great theme, in fact it would go hand in hand with my theme...don't ask you will see...
Steve
Looks like my team has our vehicle (to be retrieved on Tuesday).
Presenting, from the Era of Malaise, our 1983 Chrysler E-Class
Our vehicle came to my house sunday. Its rather boring and pedestrian by our usual standards but with good reason which shall be revealed in due time.
1990 Toyota Celica ST. Like I said....boring. But for $200 its all there and might even run after it gets a new distributer. There's a great science experiment going on the the leaking trunk and the rest of the body is covered in mold. The interior, thankfully, is in nice shape....or it was till we pulled it out. Anyone need a nice interior for a Celica?
