Congratulations Georgia Tech!
Thanks GRM for a great event! Amazing hardware all over the place. It's been a blast just being here and breathtaking what kind of effort and talent it takes to be a top 10 contender.
Results will be posted online soon. If there are any issues once they're posted, please contact me at per@grassrootsmotorsports.com and I'll look into it. We give everyone the benefit of the doubt and want to make sure that all of the correct times and scores are entered!
Thank you all for coming!
Per
Thanks to the staff and participants for all the hard work.Awesome cars, awesome coverage, Awesome comradery. Be safe headed home.
And thanks to the entrants, track workers, sponsors, guests, Martin Sports Car Club and everyone else for making it a great event, too. If it weren't for you guys and girls, it would just be the staff standing around a parking lot.
By the way, the bar has been raised--again. There were just so many cool cars.

Yeah you jinxed me, on my 6th run at the drags the rear pinion sheared on my Exploder 8.8, sending parts into the walls and all over the track, then the engine shifted on rubber mounts enough to hit the radiator, so inside I felt a lurch, heard metal and thumps and saw steam, I'm trying to figure out what the hell I did and to which end....Apparently it was something to see.
Managed a 13.5 pass without Nitrous, no point as we were spinning tires for the while track.
It was enough for the most spectacular failure award (not one I wanted) even though there was some stiff competition including the 46 car which has a window in the block now.
looks like i left before all the fun....had a blast once again. Hopefully we'll be back next year with something different and crazy.

There were many windowed blocks this year.
The 5.0 Miata got 16th (I think). We are thrilled considering the surrounding circumstances. The car was built in about 45 days and literally had not been driven execpt onto the trailer before hand. There was also the lack of a functional clutch. We esentially had to push the car to stage it, place it in 2nd then crank it over in gear until it started then rev match it to shift. I don't think we gave up much more than .5 seconds in the autocross for it ( having a Pro drive it might have been wise) althought it suited my "loose" driving style well. We figure probably lost closer to a full second at the drags. No excuse for the concourse though.
We had a great time and were well recieved by all. Good overall experience for my first time as a competitor. Going to figure out the clutch situation then probably try to sell the car. We should be back next year with something else. It is truly humbling seeing the amount of time and effort and skill a lot of the competitors put into their machines.
