This needs it's own thread. (It's burried in another one.)
Calvin's Lark
http://lark777.yolasite.com/
I have a '63 Lark that I bought from a friend of mine, the original owner, so this is especially interesting to me. And since I'll be at the $2010 Challenge, I'll have to compete against this.
Excellent start Calvin.
I have a photo of a very cool Lark drag car... somewhere. I'll have to send it to you.
AWESOME!!!!
I love the CNC mounts. Man I'm tempted to take a MET class at my old college just to get to play with the shop toys.

That car looks oddly familiar ;)
Which reminds me, if I get a chance to get out there, or you find yourself on this side of the bridge, I have a new floor pan for that front passenger side. It's all yours.
Gasser. Do it. Won't do well on the auto x, but think of the shock value.
Crib this extensively
Awesome. Pretty welds there.

+A billion on the welds. We see a lot of crappy welds, these were beautiful. Almost as good as mine. (Yeah, sure)
Well thanks for bringing this up. I was thinking about doing this, but didn't know if peoplewould be interested. I'll post in this thread whenever I update the site!
In reply to JThw8:
Sweet, we'll definately take you up on that!
In reply to spin_out:
Ok and thanks again for resurfacing it!
In reply to rjones33 and to cwh:
my Dad all the welding since I haven't had too much practice. Plus it was a structural weld, so he wanted to make sure I was safe when I was cruzing it around
In reply to Appleseed:
That is AWESOME! But no, where going to
make ours a low rider.
Wow! Besides an awsome build, when's the last time ANYONE bought a 45 year old car from the original owner?

Not sure where that part of the story came from. The car came from me, I am not the original owner. I was the 3rd owner.
Edit: Doh, I see now that the OP bought a 63 Lark from the original owner.

After a second look I realized we already have a passenger side patch panel, but what we need is a drivers side patch panel.
the site has been updated on todays progress

Doh, sorry, no driver side panel.
What do you Nelsons do with the cars after the challenge? This car would probably fetch and easy $5k on ebay after the race. I would trade my V8 Volvo wagon for it. I love Larks.
This Lark is a west-coast vintage road racer. There's at least one youtube in-car video out there, showing it in action.

Having seen the Nelson Werks personally I can vouch for the fact that it's their own little museum to their accomplishments. Most of the cars they have previously built are still housed on the premises.

I thought I saw it on the build site, but these things happen more often once you hit 50.
Dan
Hmm, that 5 speed looks strangely familiar...
Oh Lord, I just peed with excitement. You guys build the coolest stuff.
Saved to favorites, I can't tell you how bad arse those welds are.... wow, great work

This is a very cool car; I have been checking the website periodically and am looking forward to seeing it in person. Please keep updating progress, I love to see what everyone is up to. Oddly enough, the original dealership isn't far from my condo in Philly... small world...
Assuming both of our cars survive the challenge, is there any interest in a trade for a Swedish sedan in October?
Good Luck

wow, that is very cool for something different to bring to the challange though...now i really have to get my car down to come down with to have the right to say i was beat by a clown and a bunch of kids and i had a race car...sigh....
