So if a car was entered last year not as a Caveman class car but could have been. Can it be run as a Caveman class car this year (as long as it still meets the rules)? A manual boost controller doesn't knock us out of that does it?

In reply to Gasoline:
There's a surprisingly mixed bag. The Nelson clan uses an automatic, but most of the top tier finishers have a clutch pedal. There are a good number of automatics sprinkled through the rest of the field, however.

I think you answered you own question. IIRC, a manual boost controller won't knock you out as long as it was created/installed without power tools.

That's true, but the Nelson clan has never placed as high as they'd like in the autocross, and the scoring favors the autocross, so I am going to give the nod to the manual trans, unless your game is mostly very serious about the drags.
The Nelsons have been beaten (in the overall) for 6 years by smaller lower powered more maneuverable cars. CRX's seem to be pretty good at whooping them.
Of course, I mean it with the utmost of respect to the undisputed king of the drags (since no one has beaten him in those same 6 year on the strip).
Even Andy brought a manual trans to swap into the Fiat for the AutoX (until the order was switched).

With all respect to Andy, if I ever enter the challenge, it will be with the goal to beat him at the drags and still place top ten in autoX for that very reason.
How do you enter the different classes? There is nothing on the entry form that I see to indicate how to enter them.
There's two options on the form download page, select the second option and download the long form.It has all the classes on it.Once you figure out you been had just choose which class/class's that you fit into and check the boxes that apply.
You tell me what class you want to be in at registration. Mike--there's a crap clan class--or at least a trophy for the best/fastest--as well as caveman and a special class...you can find a list of the trophies in the info packet here:

Per,Is Car Domain.com not a sponsor this year? They were up till the page was updated and CRC is in there place.
Any chance we could get some information on what sponsor decals will be supplied at registration? I'd like to deconflict in advance if at all possible.
NEWB ALERT:
Do harnesses have to be in date?
The $159 G Force Pro is on backorder, and I can't afford a $350 Schroth. Out of date harnesses are a dime a dozen.
Also, the car has no roof but does have a windsheild and roll hoop. I suppose I have to get arm restraints?
Ben try speedway best cheap speed parts fast
In reply to Ben:
out-of-date harnesses have not been a problem in the past. however, if you're going quicker than 11.49 in the drags, their tech guys might want to have a second look. then again, maybe not.
Ok, new question (hopefully) I'll call it 'transit parts' If I purchase a set of tires for the purpose of driving the car to the challenge, but swap to a different set for the challenge it self, do my "transportation only" tires count toward the budget?

Only parts installed on the car during the competitive portions count towards your budget.

NO.
And now for the new tire question. (maybe I'm, planning too far ahead...) lets say I buy a set of race tires and wheels in the spring, use them all summer for autocross and track days, then bring them to the challenge. They are now quite worn, would I claim the new price or some sort of FMV?
