Does anyone know where and when there will be US broadcast of the WRC? I've been steadfastly avoiding the coverage of Rally Sweden (other than listening to live radio of the first special stage) to better enjoy the broadcast, but I can't seem to find it anywhere, or even any indication as to who's going to broadcast it. Also, if anyone can point me to an equivalent of finalgear for foreign WRC coverage that'd certainly work too...

The video I saw said "ESPN HD" on screen.

It was on espn UK, so that may have been the espn reference you saw.

I have not seen the ads for it on HD theatre yet, so I'm not sure it will be there again this year.

Having not yet seen the espn UK footage, but having read the bloody press releases, I thought espn was broadcasting the special "live" stages and the normal program would be broadcasted later as usual. Start advertising the dates HD Theater!!!

edit: OK, espn UK broadcasted the rally in the UK. Still waiting for you, HD theater!

I keep forgetting to DL from a certain Brit site. Thanks for the reminder!

Sorta doubt that it will show up on HD Theater this year. The producer from last year is no longer employed by Discovery.

Seriously just forget about it, your not gonna see it. Apparently americans don't like this rally crap, we're all NASCAR fans

To be sorta fair, the broadcasts can tend to get boring after 10 minutes. I love rally but without head to head action the video cuts get old. I'd rather see a bunch of cameras on ONE car for a good chunks of time. Most of the time they cut back and forth between cars.

I'd love to see packs of cars (maybe 3-5) going head to head. Not much room to pass and this would result in more DNFs I bet. I'd be more entertained though.

Bring on the NASCAR! YEAHAW.... bleh

I expect you'll see that sort of rally show up in the X-Games, probably not in the WRC. Car and crew versus the clock is what rally is about, not about trying to get past another car.

Years ago (like 15 years ago), they used to just run more in-car footage without a voiceover. You'd just ride along for 2-3 minutes.

HD Theatres coverage was always delayed a couple of weeks, but this is STUPID! WRC TV on the web is ok, but my nice TV is itching for rally. I watched the 500 and just love the idea of PAIRS SKATING, jeewiz....

I have been enjoying WRC for quite a while and am sorry to hear it might not be shown in the US. If anyone has any definite scheduling for WRC please leave it here for all to see. NASCAR is OK, but just. They should let the teams "run what ya brung" (within reason) and maybe it would be more interesting.

TIM, can you find out anything about WRC?

Keith - thanks for the link. Just finished watching it on my nice TV thanks to my AppleTV. I have mine hacked to run Boxee so those files were drop in and play but I also found someone who has both the ESPN and MotorsTV coverage in mp4 format which is native ATV/iTunes. I'll probably watch the MotorsTV coverage after the Wife falls asleep later.

Let me know how that is by comparison. I suspect it's the same show, but I'd like to know.

I'm about 10 minutes into the day 1 coverage and it's clear the MotorsTV is more in depth with more in car coverage and better commentary. The ESPN would be complimentary with more exterior shots of the cars flying by. Not surprising I suppose as the MotorsTV coverage is twice the length of the ESPN coverage - 24 minutes vs 46 minutes. I'm not on the same computer as the one I found it on but googling the start of the file name of the ESPN coverage got me there - not a torrent but it looked like an individual's private server left open.

Thanks for the tip, I'll check out the Motors TV coverage for meself. The coverage last year was so terrible that I simply stopped watching. I know who all the drivers are, and the confused commentary even had me losing track! The ESPN coverage seemed to be back on track for Sweden at least.

in any case, HD theater is rebroadcasting from the first round starting in April. Full schedule in link. Set your DVRs!

I watched the Motors TV version of Mexico. I like the commentary from ESPN better, someone bothered to write a script instead of just having a guy babble over top of whatever's put on screen. It was the Motors TV coverage I tried to watch last year. The commentator is better, but he's still not great.

The best commentator is the OLD commentator from a couple years back. He now does the "OneHD" show, but that is only available via torrent AFAIK.
