Well hello friends,

I've been toying with getting a newfangled vehicle since my other newfangled vehicle is payed off.

All I've been really been interested in so far is 2012/2013 v6 mustang base w/ the performance package (now if only I could find one to test drive). Most other vehicles in the same range have underwhelmed me (in stats alone). I'm waiting to see/drive the abarth to see if that tickles my fancy, but I'm in no hurry and really don't "need" a car right now.

So who doesn't like giving their opinion!? So aroundish 26k would be the target. Lower preferable, higher intolerable.

FR-S? :)

As a person who can sometimes dismiss a car on the stats alone (usually it's "doesn't make enough power for the claimed curb weight", or something like that) I wouldn't go so far as to make how a car looks on paper the biggest factor in what gets put on your "must test drive" list.

Every now and then, a car comes along that once you drive it makes you say to yourself "Damn, why don't more people buy / drive this car? And vice versa there can be car(s) that look great on paper, but are a beech to live with on a day to day basis. In other words, don't rely too heavily on the stats.

Right, hence why I'm asking for you fine posters for opinions. The mustang, by the opinions of all who have driven it, looks far and wide the best contender (and looks so far the best on paper). I'm looking for some real world opinions on "fun to drive" and "moderately competitive in autoX" categories. I would like something with low down angry torque (i.e. displacement). Although the abarth and the cooper coupe have caught my interest.

mmmmmmmmmmm

"our nicely appointed tester listed for just over $25,000 -- the new Mustang V-6 can sprint with musclecars, zigzag with sports cars, and drink with economy cars. The best of all worlds? You could say that."

I found a 2012 V-6 Mustang with the Performance Pack and test-drove it. The post is here:

I liked the V-6 'Stang but I'm going to wait a year before I make a decision on it. The Mustang will get an update for the 2013 model year, although I'm not sure if it extends beyond aesthetic changes for the V-6 models. The Hyundai Genesis Coupe will also get an update in 2013 (including a 223hp to 275hp bump for the 2.0T model) and the Scion FR-S and maybe Subaru BRZ will debut.

The S197 chassis Mustang is awesome. It is far superior in terms of chassis rigidity and handling than any of the previous Mustang generations. There's a guy in my club with a 2011 V6 Mustang, and he runs faster times than my 2011 5.0 Mustang.

Do it. DO IT.

The only cars that are really similar are the Genesis Coupe and the upcoming FR-S/BRZ/BRZ-STi.

I would say get out there and try everything you can, even if it's a little off your radar.

I love the stats of the new v6 stang and would love to drive one, but i can tell you with near-certainty that i would probably not end up with one because i dont like the interior. That doesnt really show up on paper. But i COULD drive it and love it enough to get over the interior, and that would be another thing that doesnt show up on paper. :p
