Hoping to make an appearance with the rx7...
But as anyone who knows me can attest, I won't know for sure until a week or so after the event is over.
Is there still an exhibition class? I am going to miss the UTCC so I was hoping to come down to the Challenge with my $2008 Challenge graduate...its now way over the $2014 budget, but it is still a Challenge car at heart

This was last year...its getting there

We just had an executive committee meeting and after a 3 minute heated debate, we voted to have an Exhibition Class for the $2014 Challenge! Please go to the event page to register and just let us know you will be running your car for exhibition only. Just so you know, no super duper prizes or class wins etc.
(just kidding on the heated debate)
At this point I am planning on making another appearance. Fifth time now? I do not really remember... the parking lot scenes tend to all blur together at this point.
Sadly it will be a repeat of last year for my vehicle. The venerable e30 is all I have at this point but I have managed to free up some room in the budget! No pics for now; but expect significantly improved handling, perhaps a little more power and an actual effort to make it look respectable (from a few paces back, at least!).
Instead of taking Papa on another road trip (I was the younger on last year, pay attention next time in the write up) the current plan includes my lovely wife making her second trip down to Gainsville. I wonder how many other actual genetic females have competed over the years? I always see some other great partners at the events but am not sure I have ever noticed them taking the wheel at any point.
I am very much looking forward to seeing some old friends, making some new ones and probably drinking too much of both really great and just plain awful beer. While not really the competitive type, I am truly working (casually, I abhor hard work) to make my daily (weekly, more accurately) driver a solid mid-pack finisher.

The original plan was to swap a 2.0 twin-cam Lancia engine into my x1/9, but that isn't going to happen. Have the car and engine, don't have the time.
To Rick. Thanks for putting your foot down and demand that there be an exhibition class. Looking forward to it
Team External Combustion (or whatever we will call ourselves) should be there in some capacity. I'm still on the fence, as I'm not sure I can afford to cart my butt down there this year. I originally planned to drive my CSX there, but considering it's still in the same state as it was last year at this time, that's very unlikely. We'll see....
I'm out.
My trusty navigator and only teammate, SWMBO, has now acquired a medical condition of her own for us to deal with (info to come; nothing to worry about) and it is just not going to be feasible for us. Two disabled entrants are just not quite enough to make a challenge team... maybe in a couple of years...
I might just fly down or hitch a ride to spectate and drink; those are my true areas of specific skill anyway.
Is there a way to type in your entry somehow? I'm a luddite, but also hate actually mailing things.
My entry fee has already been paid, so the whole thing seems a little silly.
The towel is officially thrown in...my $2014 entry is no where near done, nor will it be.
May bring something uncompetitive or maybe an exhibition car just for giggles.
Oh well...
I thought I could make it this year and maybe even have a car but that weekend my little sister is getting married, that jerk
Currently, the car I'm planning on bringing is still a shell sitting in the garage...
I'll be there one way or another, either with a racecar or without. It's been too long.
Somehow I ended up on two teams... and the vehicles are complete polar opposites, this should be an interesting year.

Which in theory should be wearing a bitchin' front aero piece, but it's still sitting in my in law's pole barn. I've been meaning to send you a message....
Yeah, been busy, and kinda forgot about that...
Hell, until a couple days ago, I had forgotten that I owned an rx7.:-(
I will figure this out, I promise.
I should be back in my rallycross Miata. Its got new spring rates and a junkyard roll bar, but otherwise the same. Hoping for a dry autocross day!

Two months have passed, so don't you want to share the updated status?

Hey, no one really starts building their car till Oct anyway. We’re right on schedule.
You'll need to log in to post.
