Our 2017 Volvo S60 doesn't have any drivetrain lash issues with the auto / start / stop feature.  It's pretty much seamless and smooth on restart / launch.  The Audi A3 I test drove was much worse.  The only 2 issues I have with Volvo's system are:

1) It defaults to ON every time you start the car (some cars do not).  Not really an issue, but it would be nicer if it stayed where you set it.

2) It's a shade too quick in shutting off the engine.  If you are pulling into a parking space and happen to stop a little short during touchdown, it will turn the car off when you still need to creep forward.  It starts back up again as soon as you take your foot off the brake, but it would be nice if it gave you even a half-second more grace.
