I'd sell it and pick up an evo. I don't trust modified EJ motors.

22k will buy a whole lot of American v8 powered tire smoke. Pick a flavor.

How about no mods to start and drop about 5k on a week at team O'Neil to start. You'll learn skills in fwd, rwd and awd on gravel or snow at stage speed and conditions and then you'll have a better idea of where to start chassis wise, and if you're actually better with a wheel or wrench #pinkhelmetlife

I apologize, let me clarify. 22k will buy a lot of big old nasty v8 in amy number of drivelines. Camaro, mustang, corvette, etc. An extremely nice 2jzge sc300 or gs300 or even is 300. A well sorted swapped..anything. e30/36/46 bmw, 240sx, the list goes on. Were 22k in my pocket, and i wanted to go slideways, i'd probably look at the best 20v blacktop ae86 i could get, but i am a bit of a corolla whore.

And actually, i would be willing to bet you could get am amazingly well kept r32 gtst for that cash. Rb25det will make lots of power, and no pesky atessa.

Calling a week at O'Neil a driving course is like calling LeMan a race. You'll experience and learn more about your own driving abilities and what no fewer then 3 cars are capable of via use of different methods and techniques of car control with a good portion of that due to their drivetrain type. You'd also get a sneak peak at the first focus rs to get prepped for stage rally if you were to go. The question is do you want to learn or spout off questions and seek reaffirming answers in a quest for scene points?

You've found a welcoming corner of the Internet with vast knowledge that they're willing to share regarding function, speed, how to and know how. My initial vibe from your first 2 post, both of which you've deleted, is that you're not like most on here. That's certainly not to say that you don't belong, as that's not the case, and it's certainly nobody's place to suggest otherwise, but when coming in and asking a question be humble and actually listen and research answers. This isn't berkeleying nasioc, and the day it becomes like that cesspool is the day I'm out.

Since, I can only surmise what the original post was at this point, I figured it would be fun to respond.

I'm guessing the OP has $22k to blow on a car and he wants to go sideways. Looks like he doesn't like AWD or FWD. Should he buy a C5?

In reply to T.J.:

He had 22k to modify his rwd converted 06 wrx. Doesn't want to compete in motorsports ,just to have sideways fun on pavement and on gravel (one requires steering angle the other doesnt)

Wasn't interested in getting something rwd from birth in spite of the incredible inefficiency of most rwd Subaru conversions that still entail the paracitic loss as having the awd connected. At least the 06 no longer has the glass 2nd gear. OP claims they are a vastly superior driver than wrench. I suggest a week at O'Neil as it's incredibly fun and if it's good enough for David Higgins and Ken Block to spend time at to improve and hone their skills, then I figure it'd assist any one reading content on here. And because their 5 day class subjects you to driving rwd, awd and fwd cars in stage conditions and showcases how they react differently to left foot braking, trail braking etc. Allowing the OP to make a more informed decision on what they eventually spend 20k on. Plus O'Neil staff will have ideas on potential build direction and even leads on other complete cars and projects for sale. OP took a butthurt approach of, that doesn't help my wrx go sideways and stopped just short of asking what color rallyarmour mudflaps to get, how to mount Hella horns and what flavor vape oils are best. I suspect that he'll go "stage 2" and call it a build.

Here's some good advice... if you're in college, don't drop 22k on a car.

Best advice in this thread.

Until you are making crazy good money, don't sink 22k into a 10 year old depreciating car just for the fun of it.

What we think we are going to do at 20-22 and what we REALLY do are 2 completely different things for 99% of us. Put a few grand into the car, then bank the rest forwhen you change your mind on choice of hobbies. It will happen. It does to all of us.

But, I know that at that age I know that you will take all this good advice and completely ignore it and stomp your feet and cry out "why won't anyone help me?" the entire time. I know this, because I did that same thing.... as did most of us in here past that age. With age comes experience. We're just trying to help you experience the best without making the same mistakes we made.

You can get a formula ford for way less than $22k. Ok, so maybe not one with an ecoboost engine, but have you considered spending maybe $10k on a formula ford and then have the rest (~$12k) to spend on attending a racing school and some races?

If you really have a love for sliding around in a car, I would rather you do it on a track than on the roads that may wife and family may be driving on. Just a thought.

Take the money, have a sitter that gardens stay with the dog, take time off and travel some. Find out what you love, gain experience, perspective and enjoy what you can while you're physically able to not just enjoy it, but the rebel in it. Gain as many new experiences as you can. Live a visercal life rather than trying to turn something that was designed as an awd subcompact with a turbo slapped onto it into a visercal experience. There's may people on here that feel the most enjoyable vehicles are sub $6k in part to the experience and adventure in driving them and in what you're willing to subject them to as they're completely disposal. One of the most fun adventures I had with my still entailed taking it down a single track atv trail, it had no business being there, but it was awesome. Creek crossings without underwater bridges, rock face climbs at 20 degrees. Insanity in a sedan of any sort.

The world is you oyster, live life.

And for the love of the flying spaghetti monster USE SOME DAMN PUNCTUATION. What the hell is it with this generation that makes walls of text with no clear sentences? Jeebus...makes my head hurt. I'm going to go drink my prune juice now.

I'm guessing that's how he got $22k to blow since he didn't have to pay extra for all the missing punctuation.

If somebody doesn't respect others enough to even make an attempt to use basic punctuation when asking for their help in written form, I don't have any reason to respect that person enough to waste my time deciphering their gibberish and offering my advice... Not to mention deleting their posts just because the responses they got weren't exactly what they were looking for, which is even more disrespectful yet.
