personally i always wanted to do a GM 60*v6. take 3.4 camaro short block, add 3500 heads, bigger cam, thinner head gaskets, ITB's. aluminum flywheel. headers. port and polish to within an inch of its life. 11.5:1 comp\ression 7000+RPM v6, with a LOT less weight than the stock 6. the whole engine will fit well behind front acle centerline, and very low in the car.
and yes, i did drop one in with a cherry picker just to get it out of my way. sat in there real nice, even with the camaro pan. mine was just a 3.4 camaro block, though....

I'll second SR20 and RB2x-series. SR20 for light and nimble, RB2x if you want more power.
