friends car (2k impala w/ the 3800 II) has been having problems randomly cutting out lately... he had it read at autozone and the computer says it's the crankshaft positioning sensor... friend had it replaced just 4 months ago... we'll be looking at it tomorrow but wondered due to the intermittent engine cut out if it could more likely be wiring?
thoughts?
thanks

Don't know about GM, but BMW cam and crank sensors made by aftermarket producers seem to have a very bad reputation for being bad right out of the box or failing soon thereafter. Did he use an OEM sensor? Was the harness connector in good shape and properly seated?
he doesn't know cars and had a shop do it...

If it was a cheap aftermarket part, I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if the sensor already went bad. Aftermarket electronics are usually crap.
