I'm looking for a 3 inch paper cone filter, And I can't find one. I'm not interested in washing and oiling a $60 filter, I just want to quickly and easily replace a $8 paper filter.

I'm running a washable, dry cone filter on the stang from AEM. Wasn't $8 but was a little cheaper than the oilable I had. Works great, easy care, doesn't crud up the MAF wire.
I don't think you'll find much of anything for under $20 anymore, even flat rectangles.
I can find paper cones for $11 at the parts store, both Fram and STP. I think I can make something work, I was just looking for an easy solution. As it is, the parts store people give me the stink eye for mucking about with all of the boxes.
I know ford F-150s from 97-08 use a cone style filter in just about all of the engines (4.2, 4.6, 6.8 all have the same air filters)
It's been close to a decade since I've worked in parts, but I recall the 2nd gen Integra used a cone filter, no idea if the dimensions would work for you or not.
The Ford filters won't work without the air box. They don't have any way to attach them to a pipe.
I can't help with the other but if you find them post them up. I would love one for the Samurai.
96-04 Mustangs have a cone shaped box and filter. You can remove the intake bellows from the box.
This guy attached a flexible pipe for a custom CAI build. The "horn" is just rubber that can be popped off. The shroud of the air box can be cut off so the filter is exposed.
I'm not sure what the inner diameter is though. The airboxes are pretty cheap. Most people throw them away when upgrading to a CAI (I did on both my Mod Mustangs).
89 to 91 prelude Si has a cylinder filter with a 3" inlet. No longer extremely common, but available off the shelf. Double check the box, but I believe that's the year/engine. I have one on my Miata intake.
That Prelude filter looks like the ticket. $6.50 at Rock Auto. I'll see if they can get one locally first so I can measure it, but I'm going to give it a try. I would love to use the Mustang box, but I'm not sure if I have the room. I'll keep my eyes peeled for one.
You're awesome Peter. I picked up the STP filter today. All dimensions are the same. Fits perfect. $12 at Autozone but Rock Auto has the equivalent for $6.50
I've gotten so much entertainment/knowledge out of your Grosh thread, I'm happy to help in any little way possible.
Great filter location. My Miata filter is in a similar place and I get nothing but ambient intake air temps.
I wonder why my STP filter came in a different box and has green paper instead of yellow. Different source, or just a different production run?

Came here to recommend this, AEM Dryflow.
Edit: Well I see you got a paper filter already but you should check these out when this one needs changing.
You'll need to log in to post.
