i just pickup up yhis 2002 subby outback last week for $1500 from a local dealer. he picked it up at auction and called me out of the blue and the timming could not have more prefect for timing. just sold the pos truck i bought in oct a week before and this fell into my lap. 2.2 four, 5 speed, 198,000 miles, very little rust, very clean inside and out. bad, headlight burned out and the check engine code is tossing a set of plugs, wires...and meybe a coil pack. besides milling the trim on the door. big deal.

Should be a 2.5 not a 2.2???
Unless its been swapped.
Could be wrong, thought it was, have to find out.
pull the rest of the plastic off to make the rest of the car match the one door and put some fender flares on to cover the rust on the rear wheelwells.. then drive it until you don't feel like sticking any more money in it to keep it on the road..
Why do these Subaru threads keep haunting me?
Not a week goes by when I say to myself "hmmm, I could drive one of those!".
These guys have some very helpful Subaru videos.

I think that's too new to be a 2.2 (2.5's came into being … I want to say … late '90's)
know what would make that car cool?
if you took all the running gear out of it and put it under that Pinto right next to it.. that would be pretty cool..

I think that's an AMC of some sort.
Like others have said unless swapped it is a 2.5, and if it is a cylinder 4 misfire be very careful, also but a good eye on the head gaskets.

then he should trade that for a Pinto and put the Subaru running gear under it..
That pinto you are talking about is a 81 amc spirit with a str 6 and an auto. I have had it for a couple years now and planing on getting rid of it. Need to fix the rear suspion this winter before I can drive it again...sigh. thats the reason for getting this outback. Thanks for all the comments. Pintos are cool though.
