seriously, unless it's rusted all to heck, get it. In fact, even if it is all rusted out, you can part it down. Sport seats are valuable. An LSD diff will sell. BBS's bring a couple hundred. etc. etc.

We bought a '90 325is for the '06 Challenge, thrashed it for a year, brought it to the '07 Challenge, thrashed it for another year, and then turned it into a dual driver autocross car last year. It loves it! 240k hard miles on an original M20 (only replaced crank bearings and cleaned the oil pump) and it runs great. It's a little noisy but so what.
they sound like that when they're new. no worries.

i found out why it is there .It was driving down the highway funny engine noise then died and wont restart i am thinking timing belt.

Yes, buy Ireland Engineering if you want cheap, chinese made knockoff parts.
I have bought 2 pieces from IE, upper rear shock mounts and an exhaust, and both are really nice. The build quality on the exhaust is fantastic and it sounds great, with a very reasonable price.

If all that is true it's going to take more than just a timing belt...

Definine "funny engine noise."
Somewhere in the greater Richmond Virginia area, there is a black short bumper E30 325is with under 150k miles on the ticker that was purchased from its original owner - with a stack of records no less - for $500, because it "needed an engine."
What it actually needed was a $12 Bosch relay.
I'm just saying... make sure it's something serious. If you take an E30 to the corner mechanic, they may declare it gone long before it actually is...
Worst case, spend a few hundred $ on a used engine?

If the engine is trully done (not just needing a head) I have a 440hp lt1 in my last challange car. So how much does this car weigh?
Well it has joined the fold it has either blown head gasket or jumped timing belt wants to fire up but can't there is a new set of rear brakes in trunk. Drilled and slotted rogers all the way around new blue shocks shfter is tight but the body is rough and 224k on the clock.
