If you look at the instruction manual for the controller it looks like the fuel system is a mix of return type and a returnless. The manual (available on Ford Racing's website) shows a fuel pressure regulator right before the high pressure fuel pump with the FPR oulet feeding the HPFP and the return line from regulator going to the fuel tank. After the HPFP, there is a line feeding the fuel rails but no return line from the fuel rails.
The manual also talks about removing the wiring harness that comes on the crate engine and replacing it with the harness included with the controller.
