I've got 4 bolt Miata uprights on the Locost I am building.

I like 4 bolt and I bought rims accordingly.  I didn't have any issues finding a wide variety of rims to fit it and brake kits seem to be the same no matter how many bolt rims you have.

But I am going to sell those rims & tires because the offset is way wrong so I got to thinking are there any other reasons I should want the 5 bolt hubs? Since now would be the time to make the swap, if it's possible.

So I guess the other question is, it as easy to swap out as it seems or is the stub axle a different diameter on the 5 bolt?

The 5-bolt NC Miata hubs are a bolt-on hub, incompatible with the NA/NB spindles.

4 vs 5 bolts mostly depends on the specific availability in the size/offset of the desired wheels.

I’m a big fan of 4x100, and with the early Miata’s FWD offset it offers plenty of choices for wheels. I vote to keep it as-is. 

You're going to be at least 400lbs lighter than a Miata, so I don’t see you ever over stressing the components either.

There is no benefit to doing this. Save your money and keep working toward finishing the car.

Thanx guys.  I was just being sure I wasn't missing something here.  Well back to the salt mines.

I've been putting in poly bushings and of course they didn't fit so they had to be trimmed.

I'm also cleaning up the action of the bottom arm.  There was a little binding and touching due to a slightly missplaced bottom bolt hole where the upright attaches to the arm. It's bugged me and finally decided it would never quit bugging me till I fixed.
