Sure, when its built up on a former Winston cup car chassis.
A guy was running this out at CMP today.
Just beautiful - the chassis was apparently raced by one of the Allison's and used in Days of Thunder filming. Current owner bought and used in Nascar Sportsman class, then converted to a street legal rod with an all steel 55 chevy body. He did all the fab and body work himself.
Looks like about a million hours in body and paint, too.
Is it me or is there some weirdness going on with the rear spoiler?
Looks like he's got the front clip tipped down. For aero?
I like the radiused rear wheel arches, but wish they still had the lip integrated. But Epic awesome regardless.

Epic is not a big enough word.
It's got to handle better than my 57 did. I don't think it would have averaged 35mph around CMP.
That's a beautiful machine. Watching it go through the kink would have been a hoot.

It looks ok, on the back are little alum. struts to keep it in position.
It also looks like it was scaled down to 7/8's too. It is much too short in the hind quarters.
That reminds me of the dirt track cars I used to watch (and watch my dad build) when I was a kid.

I thought the same thing when I saw this thread. In the late 60s I volunteered my labor for a two car shop of dirt track cars that ran in the 6 cy. class. I built a set of headers for a 55 Chev. The other car, oddly enough, was a 55 Plymoth ex. asphalt car that belonged to my late brother-in-law. It had a slant 6 and I did the body/paint work on it. The Chev. driver was very good and won with that car several times. He was to drive the Plymoth on it's maiden outing but was late. My b-in-law had seen some of my driving madness and asked me to strap in and drive it. I did and had just started the engine when the intended driver came flying over the banking in his street car headed for the pits. I had mixed feelings as I shut the engine back off and got out. I sure am glad I did though because on his first lap he tried to drive it like he did the Chev. and backed it into a huge wooden post at the entrance to the infield. Like I said, it was a pavement car and none of us had a clue what to change to make it work on dirt. I was in college @ the time and had to begin to focus back on my education. Before that summer was up that car also began to win.
Off topic, but look what I found looking for something completely unrelated.

We need that at the Ultimate Track Car Challenge. Anyone know how to relay that message?

Wow. I'm going to have to forward this one to my dad. His tubbed '55 doesn't like to turn, but he'll still appreciate this.

back in May there was a '63 Falcon there .... well the theme was that of a '63 Falcon... the only part that really made you say "wow that's a '63 Falcon" was the rear end...
tube frame GT 1 car ... Roush motor ... turned 1:32's ( IIRC that's right at the track record ) don't know how to find him, but you might get in touch with the folk at CCRSCCA ( their road race people )
wish I had a pic
