I've been chasing an oil leak on my newly assembled 6G72 in the '91 Montero (https://grassrootsmotorsports.com/forum/build-projects-and-project-cars/91-montero-refresh/183386/page1/). This is a new old stock block. Initially I thought the leak was coming from the dipstick tube but upon further review and after removing the motor mount I've found that it's coming out of an opening I originally thought was just a boss for other applications. This opening has a small hole that feeds oil from the pump at about the 9 o clock position, and another hole at the top that presumably sends the oil upwards through the motor. Should there be a gasket here ? A soft plug that blocks the opening but not the holes inside? I'm assuming this was maybe for an oil cooler but my cooler connects at the filter housing. Any advice on how to proceed? I'm now worried that in the few seconds I've run the motor to test it, I haven't gotten oil to the cylinder heads. Picture showing where the oil is spewing out:

Update: there's also an opening at the back of that larger boss/casting, so I'm assuming this was for an oil filter housing or something on a fwd application ? Or a turbo oil inlet/outlet for a 3000GT? I'm going to have to plug the top hole with an NPT plug and make a gasket over the rest, at least that's the plan for now.
