I'm not here to discourage anybody, but I just don't see what you are going to accomplish doing this that you wouldn't accomplish by just doing the needed rust repair and some weld-in subframe connectors. You mentioned adding a Ford rear with a 4-link, but a LOT of folks have done that without going to a full tube-frame.

I would spend some time on Nasty Z28 and the Pro-touring forum and see what other folks have done with their 2nd gen's. If you are looking at this as cheaper alternative to just fixing the rust in your unibody, I just don't see it happening.

If i just fix the current rust ive still gotta replace the rear frame rails. And if i do that I figure why not go with tubs? So I was thinking something like this and setting a cage or at the very least a 6pt roll bar for now on it. http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/jj307/rodster56/000_0061.jpg

The cheapest frame rails I can find for it that are stronger than stock are the competition engineering ones and I can get the steel to build a whole frame for the same price.

This should take care of the back half. They are actually pretty easy to install.
