it's an auto, dont remember the engine, but it's a 4banger, siezed engine, the owner is a buddy of mine with no automotive knowledge, i'm thinking BABE car, what're my options to make it a stick with some get up and go? are parts/engines easy to find/cheap, would an auto to manual swap be outragous. should i just find another prospect?

An 8th gen. Galant.....hmmm, what year would that be?

I'm not sure, but Mitsu stopped building anything, NEARLY anything, with a manual trans. so an auto to manual trans swap is kind of difficult.

i know they came with a 5-speed, it'd be between 1996-03 i believe. im not sure the specfic year, i havent looked at the car yet, i mean i've seen it many times just never paid much attention before now, the prospect of a BABE/challenge car kind of changes things haha

If it is a '96ish model, you are right, there was a manual trans. version....it's the following gen. that went to auto only. While they have been selling Galants since '84-'85, I didn't realize the '96 model was the 8th gen.

The engine "should" be VERY similar to the one used since the late '80s, which means they SHOULD be cheap and reasonably easy to find. It's also used in late '90s to the present Eclipses as the optional or base engine.

so the engine code is 6g72, and it was used in alot of applications, so would any motor from any of those applications(lebaron 1990-95) work? and would any 5-speed from a dsm/ecplise fit? sorry guys i'm new to engine swaps.
