Luckily the Miata and Rx-7 aren't on this list but pretty much everything else is.

The affected models are:
-1989–1998 MPV
-1990–1996 323/Protegé
-1992–1993 MX-3
-1993–1995 929
-1993–1997 MX-6
-1993–1998 626
Seems pretty stupid to recall a bunch of 18-26 year old cars.
The blower motor resistor and connector on the Colorado started stinking the other day. So I replaced it. It's only 10 years old. This seems like a maintenance issue to me, not a recall issue.
Joe public seems to think that cars should last forever and nothing is a maintenance item. I remember hearing about a ball joint recall because they could go bad around 100-150k miles. That doesn't seem too off to me, but to some people, you should never have to change them.
I guarantee you more Chevy trucks have burnt from blower motor resistor meltdown than 25 year old Mazdas from overpacked ignition switch grease. I replaced two toasted resistor packs in my truck so far this year.
I should take me 323 in to scare the service advisor and tech
About 7 years ago my wife's 1992 Protégé had the ignition switch short out and melt the housing. Now I know why!
Does this mean that I should check for recalls on all my 12-50 year old junk?
Maybe get some free maintenance....
Free maintenance, I'm just thinking about the patina that the complimentary car wash will add!
I still haven't done the recalls on my Malibu or Cobalt.
Worried they will mess up something in the process that has to be fixed out of my pocket.

Sure, but there's a difference between "breaks after 100K miles so you can't start the car" and "breaks after 100K miles and spontaneously catches fire".

Had 3 recalls including the ignition on my wifes car. Had to take it back the next day because the car wouldnt release the keys.
Interesting...
They still don't have parts to fix the recall on my 06 Mazda, and it has been like 18 months.
Seems odd they are recalling vehicles that old
I've just realized that this recall can now be used to get any BG chassis car for under 500. Check over car, point out slop in shifter being a concern, call into question condition of transmission, run vin, point out open recall to seller, question general maintenance and upkeep regardless of appearance and overall condition, drive home in BG.
