So one of my coworkers is thinking about selling a 99 SI. It has 155k miles and has a few mild performance mods like Tien coilovers, AEM intake, DC header, Kosei wheels. It also has a very modified stereo but the install is very clean (like except for the screen in the dash you wouldn't know it wasn't stock until the stereo was turned on). There are four amps hidden behind the rear seats, the sub is hidden on the side of the trunk, there are 6.5" and 4" speakers hidden behind the kick panel, DVD changer under the seat. He has all the stock parts except the suspension. So what would a car like that be worth as is? Or would it be worth more with the audio equipment removed?

These cars are fetching outrageous money to the fanbois.

I'd say it's probably worth $4k. $5k if it's really clean. I don't know that the stereo will really decrease the value, but i'd probably think about selling some of it off and simplifying it if i bought it.

I really like these cars. I just refuse to pay what clean ones usually go for.

Thats because the newer ones suck?

Well.... they always have, but i'm sure that's part of it. 99-00 Si is the last good Si. They REALLY need an LS or B20 bottom end swap, though. The B16 makes more sense in a light EF/EG hatch than it does in the relatively heavy EK/EM1/Whatever fanbois are calling it today coupe.

I'm wondering if those cars aren't worth more stock. And, yes, we still have all of the parts so we can turn my wife's Electron Blue 2000 Civic Si totally back to stock.

Im with Ben, 4-5k, me leaning towards the higher end because tasteful, restrained mods (although the spring rates on those coilovers MIGHT blow that restrained word out of the water) and clean stereo installs are very rare and probably add several hundred dollars (a tiny fraction of their cost, of course) to this car vs subtracting value if they were crappier parts and installation.

I also agree they have a displacement problem.

Random condescension: I once raced and beat a modded one (who knows how much, probably lightly) in my old Dynasty that i sold running for $400. Funnily enough, considering the comments about it being the last good Si, i ALSO raced a modded ep3 and a stock CR-Z in that same car, and i thought the EK si was the slowest of the bunch. Having said that, i of course acknowledge that they are great cars and i'd love to have one if i didnt have to pay for it.

Non cut up ones are fetching a premium these days. Even moreso a week before Race Wars.

If you mean sold in england, they did get at least one, possibly 2 interesting Civic Si's that weren't sold here. Their civic from the late 00's with the diesel is especially interesting to me.

The EP3 Si (van looking one) was built in England.

These are definitely the last Civics that I like. Since then they've gotten uglier and more boring. A 99 or 00 in Electron Blue is pretty awesome.
