Scenario: You see a Saab for sale. It is a later Saab equipped with an immobilizer and laser cut key. Car for sale doesn't currently have a key to go with it. Only solution is to go get one cut, problem is Saab no longer around.
How do you get a key cut for a modern car when the company no longer exsists? Do you go to a GM dealership?

No mention of it having a title either. Suspicion raised.
Perhaps no picture or color description so as to not draw unwanted attention.

I have a friend that works at a SAAB indie shop that was an authorized warranty center. I make a call tomorrow and find out what can be done.
Find a good locksmith, they are still out there. I've had masters cut form vin's or master codes for multiple cars over the years, they are a lot cheaper than the dealer and they service all brands.
ebay? I had a key made for a car by an ebay seller just using a vin.

Exactly. Just I would leave the car hot all the time and run a switch panel.

with a hidden battery kill switch under a seat or something - both have to be engaged to start/run.
Come to find out, it's not a key that needs to be cut. It is one of these fobs like Mercedes has

Yup. And my initial research for a similarly advertised Saab said $600+ to get one.

My guy says that "it will need a key and mated SIM module. Minimum $800. If your not getting it for free, run away".
