Hopefully we will get our piece of E36 M3 together. It is battling us right and left. You wouldn't want to happen to stop by Mississippi on your way down and show us how to get this thing running would you you? I mean only to help your competition out. LOL
What do you guys figure support costs at? Between the hotel, fuel, food, and other misc expenses I may double my budget. Yes, I know those things aren't included in the actual budget but damn this is the most expensive cheap van build ever. Anyone interested in splitting hotel expenses for 3 nights?
Host hotel probably 200+ now as the block of rooms expired. Quality inn a couple exits down was 89 last year and was clean.

Hotel is $109. Block is not expired.

I wish you weren't on the opposite end of the state, I'd love to give you a hand...not that I have any experience with your anti-theft problem, but I'm pretty good with a schematic & completely rewired an old rally car I bought years ago.
In reply to Ovid_and_Flem:
Sir if you can't hot wire an old Corvette then you are not a true redneck.

Last week one of the staffers said it was the last day for the block

Hotel split is the way to go! I may already have people to split with, but if that falls through, I'll let you know.
Gas: 1700 miles round trip at 17 mpg and $2.50/gal is $250
Food: Thurs-Sunday 3 meals a day, say $10/meal is about $100
Beer: $???
Inevitable parts store runs: $100-$300
Spanking GT Wreck Racing with a stupid simple build a year after graduating: Priceless
(This thread needs more trash talk. Also where are the college teams?)
Why did the stress level shoot up when I saw 39......40 didn't seam bad.... 39 Yikes!

DAMN YOU'RE UP EARLY....NO WONDER YOU'RE THE DEFENDING CHAMP!
By the way.... appreciate the offer to help us get this damn C4 running. After Chasing what we thought was a computer or electrical glitch keeping it from turning over for two weeks and thinking it was possibly the Anti-Theft gone haywire, all we had to do was smack the starter with a hammer and the old girl started right up. We spent all that time thinking it was complicated nothing more than a stuck solenoid. Live and learn I guess.
Test fired new engine an hour ago. Still can't say what it is, but now i can hook everything up knowing it'll run.
Started body work. Was looking at power steering pump and noticed it was off a bit. 1 step forward 2 steps back.
We had our first test autocross and the tires rubbed quite a bit. I bought a new fender roller a while back that I have not used yet, so maybe this is more of an opportunity, than a bad thing.
Challenge Pro Driver Danny Shields took a few runs in the car and said that the handling was "benign". I looked it up on-line, Benign means "not particularly harmful". I can live with that. Danny was 2/10 ths of a second faster in his Boxster S. Our Mustang from last year was usually a second faster than Danny's Boxster, so .... I'll hold off on any smack talk. ;)

You and Maschinenbau both need to step up your smack....he called out another school with some weak attempt....

I've tried to E36 M3 talk but no one is giving any back. They must all be scared they're gonna get beat by a $50 sedan.

I will beat your $50 dollar sedan with a van and a trailer park reject...
In reply to pimpm3:
Don't be talking about my sister like that.
I now officially have street cred. Just got a ticket in my challenge mobile while testing on the public highways. No seatbelt!

Yaaa, you roll with that.....

...or.... you're not the sharpest knife in the drawer....No seatbelt???? C'mon man...Building a Challenge car is idiotic enough!
In reply to wheels777:
LOL.... hey we were gutting the car. I haven't had a chance to put the harnesses in yet. Besides with vintage car tags I didn't think you needed to have seatbelts.
Now the big question is do I have to count the $25 ticket in my challenge budget?
I thought all C4 Vettes came from trailer parks with missing seatbelts and Stampie's sister-Err I mean a trailer park reject in the passenger seat?
In reply to maschinenbau:
Know the difference between a clapped out c4 corvette and a trailer park ho?
A C4 Corvette doesn't have neck rust

At least you'll have the second fastest Q45.
