Is that a planing hull or some sort of retractable hydrofoil? It seems to get further out of the water than I'd expect.

It's not a hydrofoil. No good pictures of the hull, but it appears to be some type of mostly flat bottom design, which is typically the easiest to get up on plane.

While the body looks to basically be a Jeep Wrangler with a bad 80's body kit/graphics...I would say it's possibly be one of the better technical implementations of an amphibious car.
