I've been looking for a DD/winter car preferably with a 5 speed with no luck. I did find a 99 accord 4 cyl. auto with 169K. No apparent shifting problems and clean tranny fluid. I wasn't sure if this year had any major issues. I looked at some integra autos that had well over 200k on them that ran good but i wasn't sure if they used the same tranny. Any thoughts?
Pretty sure a friend has a 5 speed accord with around 200k on it. I think their one of those cars in which the tranny holds out as long as you take care of it.
I'm no expert on the matter, but I think that is the situation on those guys.
This would be the auto tranny. I guess I'll find out since I bought it. $1200 new tires and exhaust. I will have to change water pump/ timing belt since there isn't record of it being replaced.
I think the "Honda autos suck" thing applies more to the 6 cylinder models.

The auto trans in our 86 CRX still seems to work ok after 27 years and 250k. It shifts late when it's cold, then acts totally fine. 
My '97 5-speed has almost 200k on it and its rock solid. Pretty much bone stock. Honda autos are fine if the fluid is changed according to the manual and not beaten.
Well shoot, if we're talking about manuals my DD honda 5spd has 346000 on it.
My mother sold her '98 accord sedan V-6 auto with close the 300k on the odometer and never had a problem with the transmission. She maintained the car very well and flushed the trans in 30,000-40,000 mile intervals. The transmission always performed and shifted noticeably better with fresh fluid. The only complaint I had with the car was it's ridiculous shifting habits while the cruise control was turned on. The car has survived a teenage driver and is still on the road today.
