I made it as far as the Radio Shack rant before I checked the date.
Here's something for this history lesson.
When I moved to my present location in 2004, AdvancedAuto had the best free interchange database on the internet. They were then part of a larger group called PartsAmerica that included several chains. One day I went there and it was all gone. What I didn't know then is that OReillyAuto had bought out PartsAmerica to fuel their expansion. I hardly ever buy anything from OReillyAuto, but they now have the best free interchange database on the internet. If you can mange to find a part that fits your vehicle on their website, scroll down and click on the "Compatibility" tab. It will show every brand/year/model/car/truck built that uses that part. Very handy for doing your homework before going to the junkyard.
What do hate is jumping through hoops for discounts. If I purchase in the store I pay retail. If I order on line then pick it up they will discount it. I stopped purchasing from the local Advanced and Autozone because of this slimey crap with discount codes. Just sell me a part for a fair price. If I have to touch a computer I am going to Amazon or RockAuto. Even the dealer. You would be surprised at how competitive dealer parts pricing can be.
